And here we are again, April has faded into a distant memory and we embraced the month of May. I could go on and on about how fast time flies but that would only be depressing for someone like me who is unwilling to accept the fact that my youth is long gone.
I'll cut the long depressing moaning short and let's concentrate on everything that was brilliant in April.
BEAUTY
April had been a month where I had been absolutely obsessed with a bare face with the exception of dark red lips, flushed pinkish cheeks and LOTS of mascara. My skin has been exceptionally good thanks to Dr. Hauschka Night Serum* (reviewed here) and the three makeup products that I had been reaching for were Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm in Standout, Maybelline Lash Sensational and Hikari Powder Blush in Tango.
Standout is a stunning blue based red and it's wearable for both day and night. And I finally found my favourite drugstore mascara in Maybelline Lash Sensational! This mascara gives volume, holds the curl and gives a much needed length to my pathetic eyelashes. I received Tango in my April ipsy bag and oh my goodness, it is such a gorgeous powder blush. It's very pigmented and lasts the whole day on my dry face.
FOOD
Hubby and I have been trying to eat healthier but the problem is, we loveeeee our snacks too much. We didn't want to give up snacking (yes, we're selfish) so the only way that made sense to us was to find healthier snacks! This is where Hi I'm Skinny Sticks came into our life. It's surprisingly delicious and with low calories, can you say win?
WHAT THE HOUSE OF PLATT IS WATCHING
This is a documentary on real life homicide investigators. The show focuses on the first 48 hours when it's deemed most crucial for the investigators before the trail usually runs cold. It's grim, gruesome and you'll watch that some are killed for nonsensical reasons. I have no idea how these investigators do it because if I was in their shoes then I would have lost my faith in humanity a long time ago.
This is not your usual run of the mill story of Sherlock Holmes and Watson, Elementary is fresh and contemporary with a huge dose of sarcastic humour and I guarantee that you'll be hooked. And Lucy Liu's as Joan Watson has the best wardrobe that I have ever seen and I want every single piece of clothing that she wore on the show. Fashion, humour and a great detective storyline? Major love!
LITTLE BONUS
Grandma baked the birthday cake |

Little tyke turned one on 29 April! It's crazy to think that he's been in our lives for a year now. I swear it felt like only yesterday he came into our lives. We had a very small celebration amongst family and I made burgers, baked mac & cheese (recipe coming soon!), coleslaw and potato salads.
Now enough about me and let's talk about you, how was your April?
