Summer has been a complete surprise for me. All these years I have been reading about how wonderful and brilliant Summer is for almost everyone so you can imagine my surprise when I didn't like it as much. Where is all the dancing, singing with the birds twirling in unison around me?
I wouldn't go as far as claiming that I hate Summer but for now, I'm not the biggest fan. Yes, I know most of you would probably be surprised by my admission considering where I am originally from as Malaysia is a tropical, hot and humid country but I find the sun rays here are worse. It feels like the sun pierces through my skin and with the crazy heatwave that we have been experiencing, I have morphed into a crazy, raging, temperamental and once a month hormonal bitch.
If you follow me on Instagram (check here) which you totally should because I usually bombard you with #FoodPorn, not homemade porn (ain't nobody need to see that)....and I lost my train of thought.
Let's start again, if you follow me on Instagram then you will notice that last month I was kindly sent a box of goodies by Dr. Hauschka which are meant to help me maintain my cool in Summer. I will be talking about body products for today and facial skincare will be up in my next post.
I didn't get the chance to take a picture of the body wash box because Little Tyke happily munched on it... |
First up, Lemon Lemongrass Vitalising Bath Essence* (CAD31.00 for 100mL) which I received a 10mL sample of it. I must admit that I didn't use this for bath due to the sample size and quite frankly, I much prefer showering in this humidity. What I did do though was mix a couple of drops of this bath essence with a body wash and let me tell you, you will be left with the silkiest skin. It's crazy how just a few drops of this took a body wash to a whole new level.
The downside for me is this would be a very expensive product for bath. It's recommended to use a couple capfuls for each bath and I personally feel 10mL is good for half a bath? That means a bottle will only last 5-6 baths. Now I don't know about you but that is a very decadent bath for me and I would soak myself until tomorrow and then more.
Up next, Lemon Lemongrass Vitalising Body Wash* (CAD25.00 for 200mL) which I also received a 10mL sample and fell completely in love with. Yes, I walked out of the shower smelling like something that belongs in a pot of chicken curry however, the scent is so refreshing! I always use a loofah for shower and be warned that this body wash doesn't lather much. It doesn't dry my skin instead I'm left feeling fresh throughout the day. I love this so much that I will be purchasing a full size soon.
And I save the best for last, Lemon Lemongrass Vitalising Body Milk* (CAD40.00 for 145mL). The colour of this body milk is quite a turn off, it's a murky yellow like puss but once I got over that fact (I do have a wild and childish imagination...), the body lotion is such a lovely product. The texture is so creamy that it is almost silky and absorbs quickly. The lightness means my body doesn't get sticky and uncomfortable despite the humidity. As much as I love this, it's not without fault. I usually shower at night and I discovered that by 2pm the next day, I would definitely need reapplication on my shin areas. The rest of my body is fine however the skin on my shins is very dry so reapplication is definitely needed.
The combination of body wash and body milk is a gorgeous one, and after two washes my skin felt absolutely lovely to the point my husband forgave my transformation into a walking, talking lemongrass.
I personally adore all three products however, I doubt this range would appeal to everyone. I sense the freshness of lemons however I only smell lemongrass and it can be overpowering. I got used to the scent over time but it took a lot getting used to.
What are your thoughts on this range? Are you a fan of lemongrass scent products?
