You could judge by the title alone that this will not be a pleasant review and my usual catty self will make a huge appearance throughout the post. At the risk of being hunted down by the die hard NARS fan girls and boys, it took me a long time to hit the publish button for this post.
NARS is well known for their cheeky product names and when I saw this duo of Orgasm blush and Laguna bronzer, I just had to get it. Both products have long been raved by beauty bloggers, vloggers and their dogs so I was sure these were going to blow my socks off. Uh huh...
It took me three swipes to get the intensity that you see in the swatches above. The pigmentation in both products is so sheer that it's ridiculous!
Orgasm ~ This was the biggest disappointment for me. After reading so many rave reviews over the years, I was expecting to fall head over heels in love and it turned out to be everything the opposite. Pigmentation is extremely poor but the worst part was the glitter. It's like I'm wearing disco balls on my cheeks and John Travolta was sashaying his arse all over them. The shade does show up on my cheeks but you will notice the glitters before anything else...dafuq?!
Laguna ~ I thought this would be a good neutral bronzer that would warm up my face naturally. It's okay for that purpose but again, the pigmentation is so poor and my Essence Sun Club Matt Bronzer performs much better.
There were many who claimed NYX Powder Blusher in shade Pinched is a great dupe for Orgasm but I disagree. The shades are different and Pinched has gorgeous golden shimmers that allows me to skip highlighter and Orgasm is just a bloody hot mess. The only saving grace for me was I bought a travel size of this duo instead of full size.
I am a little gutted that this duo was a complete bust but it goes to show how makeup in general is very tricky. What works for the majority of the beauty population don't mean it will be the same for you. Sometimes you find out the hard way that you're the dorky nerd with braces who will never be a part of the cool kids and this time, the dorky nerd turned out to be me.
Have you tried any of these products? Please share your thoughts about them, did they work for you?
