Today's review is something that is pretty close to home so I am very excited to introduce a new aromatherapy skincare brand, Here & Now Botanicals. They are located in East Vancouver which is not too far away from where I live, a small town on Vancouver Island.
The products are created in small batches and hand crafted to ensure freshness and they are retailed in several locations in Vancouver (check here). All products are created without parabens, sulfates, palm oil, petroleum, phthalates, mineral oil and other harmful ingredients for both our health and the health of the environment.
I was kindly sent 3 Step Aromatherapy Skincare Program* and All Natural Lip Balm (Mint)* and have been testing them for the last three weeks. With the exception of using a milk cleanser in the morning, I didn't add anything else into my routine because I wanted to see how my skin reacted to this system.

The cleanser is a thick gel and foams up nicely without drying out my skin. It has a very pleasant herbal scent to it just like the toner and the moisturizer and it reminds me of a fancy spa. I use it with my old trusty Olay Pro-X as my second cleanse after removing my makeup with micellar water. I like that I never felt the need to quickly moisturize my face after using this cleanser.
Toner...ahh the toner. I never ever thought I would love another toner as much as I love L'Oreal Age Perfect Anti-Fatigue toner but gosh, this certainly comes so close. It smells heavenly and my skin instantly looks fresh and hydrated. I have not had a full blown pimple ever since I started using this and I suspect it's due to the witch hazel and tea tree. It's also suggested that this toner is great for festivals as it's a great insect repellant thanks to Cedarwood and Lavender. You can also spray this 8 inches from the root of your hair to combat oiliness. I didn't test it on my hair as I don't have an oily scalp and I have yet to venture anywhere that has lots of insects so unfortunately I can't attest to that too.
The moisturizer is a light lotion and I only need one pump for both my face and neck. It absorbs relatively quickly and it leaves my face looking hydrated. Unfortunately for me, hydrated is not enough for my mature skin because after 4 days of using only this moisturizer, I noticed my skin starting to look dull and lack lustre. Don't get me wrong, it's not the moisturizer's fault but at my age, my skin needs more to suit its needs. I had to add my usual serum, facial oil and retinol products into the mix for the rest of the trial period.
I wish there were options for serums and facial oils because it would be a great addition for anyone like me who needs a little extra care for the skin.

In case you're wondering, I'll assure you that there is no strong minty taste to this and no, it doesn't sting the lips however, it did take me a while to fall in love with this lip balm. Initially I felt like it wasn't moisturizing enough but that's because I am so used to store bought lip balms that never fully absorb into the lips but now I can't be without it. It's different in the sense that it melts into oil upon contact to the lips and it absorbs completely leaving behind very soft lips. If you are not a fan of normal lip balms that feel slippery and sit on top of your lips then I highly suggest giving this a try.
Here & Now Botanicals seriously took me by surprise at how amazing the quality of products are and the best part, everything is so reasonably priced. I will be purchasing the cleanser, toner and lip balm once I'm done with them but I will skip the moisturizer. I think my skin needs something more than what the moisturizer can provides.
If you're looking into trying natural, aromatherapy skincare then I highly suggest checking out Here & Now Botanicals and oh, did I mention that the cleanser, toner and moisturizer are vegan? Oh yea, told you they are brilliant.
