I'm starting to feel nostalgic whenever I start typing a new post...the most recent one was somewhat embarrassing (because I really showed my age) and today's post well, while not as bad as the other, is still a walk down memory lane.
The first iPhone was released in 2007 but unlike 80% of the worlds population, I was oblivious about it and was still happy with my good old Nokia. Then 2008 dawned and I started to notice that my dearest Nokia was an endangered species and by the time 2009 arrived, I was starting to feel like Leroy Jethro Gibbs.
iPhones or smart phones had taken over the world and I reluctantly walked in to an Apple store in 2010 and emerged with a brand spanking new iPhone 3Gs. Suddenly I felt like the bomb dot com again, never mind that I had no flipping clue how to use the bloody phone but I felt like I belonged to a group.
You and me, we are one of the Apple minions.
While I have no complaint about the iPhone itself, I sure have tons to bitch about the earphones. I'm not talking about the new AirPods (has anyone tried that? thoughts?), I'm talking about the one that come with the iPhone and never fail to go kaput a couple of weeks after the warranty expires.
After going through three Apple earphones later and finally wising up, I bought a pair of Sony earphones which lasted me until today and I never strayed from my good old Sony until recently.
Meet Sudio Vasa Blå Earphones and I wouldn't be a blogger if I didn't choose the stunning Rose Gold White*. Yes, I know it's totally cliche but come on, it's beautiful! There is no denying that the Vasa Blå is aesthetically pleasing but the most important question, how is the sound quality?
The Vasa Blå promises studio quality sound, elegant design and 8 hours of freedom. It can be paired with all Bluetooth enabled devices so you can hook it up to your PCs, MacBook, smart phones, tablets, you get the gist. The Vasa Blå sound signature is delivered by a carefully tuned driver and amplifier. The combination of driver and amplifier is able to separate the sound of every instrument in every song, thereby giving the listener a true studio experience.
In comparison to my Sony earphones, the Vasa Blå definitely has a weight to it (14g). The sleeves thankfully fits well into my ears so it sat comfortably and didn't fall out or hurt my ears. It also comes with 4 extra pairs of sleeves so you can switch and choose one that suits your ears the most.
So does it deliver on the studio quality sound? Well, I have no idea what a studio quality sound should be but the real test was when I passed it to hubby dearest who has a pair of Beats by Dr. Dre earphones. We both agreed that the sound quality is good but definitely not $140 good. Despite playing and adjusting the options, the sound is not as sharp and detailed and we both noticed that we couldn't pick up on certain beats. Rae from theNotice.net (read her review here) used the word 'muffled' which perfectly described the sound quality.
I wouldn't call these a total bust though, the battery life is remarkable, the ease of usage is amazing, hubby loves using it in the gym because he has the freedom to move around without having to drag his phone everywhere.
I think many will love Sudio Vasa Blå Earphones and frankly if it wasn't the comparison against Beats by Dr. Dre earphones (hubby has the cheapest version that only costs $99.95, not bluetooth compatible), I think this review would have been perfect.
Do I recommend Sudio Vasa Blå Earphones? Yes but depending on your needs. If you are a sound geek then this might not be right for you but if you're looking for something that is easy to use, aesthetically pleasing and functional then I highly recommend checking this out.
