Winter was extremely rough last year, not only did it snow endlessly for days, it also triggered dry, red, itchy flaky skin on my forehead. The funny thing was this occurred only at the hairline around my forehead.
I went to my doctor who is also a dermatologist and he prescribed me a gel meant to treat rosacea. Yes, this was the same doctor who was convinced that I had rosacea even though I insisted that I was wearing a blusher...
And just in case any of you are curious if the bloody gel worked, the answer is no and I was C$42.00 poorer. 😒
So I did what every reasonable people does (sarcasm), I Googled, self-diagnosed, convinced I was going to die a horrible death, whined about it for a day, Mr. Platt rolled his eyes to the back of his head and I finally decided to rehaul my whole haircare. I decided to go down the SLS free route and while my problem didn't go away overnight, I saw massive improvements after a month.
I was introduced to KMS in early May and was kindly sent three products from their Moist Repair range to try. What intrigued me the most was the fact the products contain AHA structure complex;
· Lactic Acid - to support internal reconstruction
· Cetrimonium Chloride - to even out the hair surface
· 18-MEA - to help restore hair’s natural surface

MOIST REPAIR CONDITIONER*
This conditioner was love at first use. Not only does it smell heavenly but it nourishes my hair without weighing it down. My hair is at its natural state, meaning I don't colour nor do I straighten it so quite frankly I am under the impression all conditioners are made the same and will not make any difference.
KMS Moist Repair Conditioner* proved that not all are the same as this conditioner softened and smoothed my hair like silk and as bonus, it doesn't weigh down my thin, fine hair. This is also the first conditioner that allows me to wash my hair once every two days because my hair holds volume up to two days and my roots don't get as dirty and oily. Absolutely love this!
This cream has a lotion texture and it's meant to improve manageability, control statics and flyaway and finally my favourite part, add body to the hair without weighing down the hair.
Did it successfully do all that? For the most part yes. My hair looks very healthy with the cream and I find that it detangles my hair easily. It also helps with static and flyaway but unfortunately for me, this cream is a touch too heavy for my hair type. I can only apply it on bottom 1/3 of my hair because anything more and my hair will go flat within a few hours.
If you have thicker and coarser hair then I can see this working out perfectly for you but thin, fine hair like mine be warned that a little goes an extremely long way.
I have no words on how much I love this spray! To be honest calling it a spray is kind of a stretch because it doesn't spray out a fine mist instead, it spurts out a light lotion hence I prefer spraying the product into my hand and running it through my hair with my fingers.
Just within a week of daily usage, I find my hair to be smoother, shinier and stronger. I also noticed there are fewer kinks in my hair which is a huge bonus. On top of all that, this spray leaves my hair smelling amazing for up to two days!
That's my day 3 hair after a few spritzes of Clean Enhanced Organics Surf Spray*, my hair still look alive! |
I never have any luck with sea salt spray or any sort of hair products that promise wind swept hair. Maybe I just don't get the style, maybe I am just that bad at styling my hair but all that I have tried so far left my hair feeling sticky, icky or looking like a birds nest was forming on my head.
Not the look that I was going for.
Clean Enhanced Organics Surf Spray* may just be the first and only sea salt spray that didn't end up in the trash after the first three tries. It doesn't leave my hair feeling sticky or too crispy and it gives my hair va-va-voom volume! The only negative about it is the scent which I am not too crazy about. It's like a weird scent that I can't quite put my finger to, not the most pleasant but I can tolerate it.
It has been a long road for me to change my routine of washing my hair daily to washing it once every alternate day or once every two days. It wasn't easy but with the right products such as these from KMS Hair and Clean Enhanced Organics, I actually discovered that daily hair washing wasn't necessary after all and my scalp thanks me for it.
