I know it's cliche to start a post with an almost panicky tone screaming "Omfg...I can't believe it's already December!!! Like OMGGG...can you believe it?!". Now read that sentence in a high pitch shrill sugary cuteness overdosed voice...oh yea, that's not me.
It's that time of the year folks, where Christmas songs are playing in loops, the shopping frenzy is at its peak and every single blogger out there is churning out gift guides like their bloody life depends on it.
Well, welcome to gift guide number 1864487963006645243.
And you're welcome.
The hardest part of shopping for Christmas or shopping for Mr. Platt in general is...I have no idea what to buy for him. The biggest challenge was how do I convert someone who washes his face with the same loofah and body wash that he uses for the rest of his body?
Armed with a new found determination to make him fall in love with skincare as much as I do, I visited The Body Shop store located in Nanaimo to search for something, anything that would convert him. I was very kindly assisted by Jennifer (not only is she friendly and very knowledgeable but gosh, she's also a beauty!) who helped me figure out a few gifts that would convert the stubbornest man into trying a few beauty products.
The Body Shop has some of the best gift sets that I've seen in stores. There is something for everyone and for every budget. I was amazed at how many products are actually unisex, the scent will appeal to both men and women.
After a mere 20-30 minutes in store and with Jennifer's assistance, I found the perfect gifts that I am positive will appeal to the men in your life. And I bet you lovelies might even borrow some of these products for yourself!

Hands down this is the best men skincare starter kit and what I love most is an eye cream is included in this set. Most skincare sets don't include an eye cream which irks me because I am a strong advocate of using one to prevent fine lines and wrinkles.
You get 3 full size products; face wash (175mL), moisturizer (100mL) and eye cream (15mL). Men skincare products are usually very strongly scented but thankfully The Body Shop Maca Root range is anything but that.
If you're looking for the perfect mens grooming kit for someone who has zero skincare routine then I highly recommend giving this set a go.

If skincare is not his thing but he's looking for something to nourish his beard then don't you worry, I got you covered.
The Body Shop Oils Of Life Intensely Revitalizing Facial Oil* doesn't only nourish the skin, you can actually use it to tame and care the ends of hair and beard. It's made of 3 precious seed oils and a blend of 7 essential oils, you only need 1 or a maximum of 2 drops each time. Don't let the word oil scare you as it's a very lightweight oil that nourishes without heaviness.
I highly suggest getting the set because you never know, he might just start using the moisturizer when he falls in love (and he will) with the oil.
The Body Shop Hemp set is the perfect gift for the man in your life who needs the extra care for their hands, body and lips. The range is dermatologically tested for very dry skin and contains Community Trade hemp seed oil.
If your other half works outside in the cold temperature or washes his hands constantly then look no further, this set has everything that he needs. Again, the scent is non intrusive and gender neutral so this makes a great gift to anyone including yourself.

Mr. Platt does have sweaty feet and it bothers him especially now when he wears a pair of thick socks the whole day to keep warm. When I brought up this matter to Jennifer, she immediately suggested this foot spray. The scent is so refreshing and it does leave a cooling sensation to the feet and Mr. Platt is obsessed with it. He uses it twice a day and he hasn't experience any odour ever since.
Now I know it's tricky to gift this to someone as he/she might find it to be insulting but it also depends on how close your relationship is. I personally would appreciate something like this and Mr. Platt was more than happy to receive this.
It has been a while since I last visited The Body Shop as a brand and I am very pleasantly surprised at how far they have come in the past two years. What surprised me even more is the fact Mr. Platt now has a skincare routine thanks to the Macs Root Men's Grooming Kit*. I kid you not, he's consistently using the cleanser, eye cream and moisturizer and I say that itself is a testament to how wonderful the products are.
What skincare products are you getting for the man in your life? Do you think any of these products will appeal to them?
*Products marked with * were received for free but my thoughts and opinions are 100% unbiased, honest and my own. There is no place for any sort of BS here. This post is in collaboration with The Body Shop.
