By now some of you might already know why my online presence has been so sporadic, some might not and others, well, couldn't care less. But since some of us are longtime friends, I feel that I owe an explanation or at least an update on what's been going on in my life.
First and foremost, I got a new job! And not just any job; it's a fulltime, Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm, evenings and weekends off kind of job. This might not be a huge deal to many but in the small town I live in where most of the job opportunities are part-time, it's a bloody big deal to me and of course, my family.
I will be working in the same field that I was back in Malaysia; administration but the biggest and most important part of this change is the more balanced family and work life. No more working 14-16 hour shifts, no more waking up at 2:30am and most of all, we have the weekends off to spend some quality family time without me having to rush off to work or heading to bed at 8:00pm because I have an early morning shift the next day.

Of course with this new job I also get to wear my own clothes again! My previous two jobs have uniforms so I never need to worry about what to wear or if that scarf goes with that blouse or if those trousers make my arse look larger than life.
Clothes shopping in Canada has always been the bane of my life. I'm always too small for normal sizes so I either shop at the junior section (which Mr. Platt loves making fun of...) or have very limited selections.
And one fine day, I discovered Reitmans.

2 pair of work trousers, 5 tops and one cardigan later, I think I am set for my first week back into an office. Oh, and shall we go a touch gaga for this powder blue trench coat? It's the perfect coat for all occasions; chic for a day or night out with friends and yet, professional for work or you can wear it from work to dinner.
I am really looking forward to this new chapter in my work life...to be honest, I have been searching for an office job since 2017 but the opportunities were far and few and most of the times, the timing wasn't right. And now here I am, hoping, praying and wishing that this would be the right move for me and family.
There will definitely be a period of adjustment especially for Little Tyke who is used to having me at home for days or I am gone before he wakes up. At the end of the day, I have faith that everything will work out just right.
