Almost two months ago I had the opportunity to discover a local Canadian brand whose philosophy is quite fascinating. Graydon Skincare named after its founder Graydon Moffat is a natural, plant-based luxury skincare brand that believes in feeding your skin with nutrient.
I respect the brand's approach to transparency; they listed all their ingredients on their site and even explain the benefits of each ingredient (read here). Their products don't contain mineral oils, chemicals, parabens, sulfates, artificial dyes or synthetic fragrances. Graydon Skincare also avoids using nut derived ingredients due to the prevalence of nut-related allergies and is cruelty-free, gluten-free with some products are vegan.
I have been testing Superfood Serum* for almost two months and I must say, it was love at first use. While it is called serum, this is actually a lightweight, silky luxurious face oil that can be used on its own or added into your moisturizer. It does have a slight scent to it which I can best describe as fresh vegetables...kale to be exact. That said, the scent is subtle and dissipates quickly.
It is housed in a heavy, clear glass bottle and it comes with a pipette. The pipette is well made; it is slightly curved at the end which allows me to reach every last drop. It also has a slight click when I twist it shut which I think is brilliant so I will never screw on the bottle too loose or tight.
Its full ingredient list is on display on the site and this is where the transparency comes into play; you can click on each of the ingredients and it will take you the page I linked above which explains why and what makes that ingredient special. You can click on all the ingredient listed below:
Ingredients: Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Crambe Abyssinica Seed Oil, Camellia Oleifera Seed Oil, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Oil, Lycium Barbarum Seed Oil, Plukenetia Volubilis Seed Oil, Salvia Hispanica Seed Oil, Vaccinium Corymbosum (Blueberry) Seed Oil, Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Seed Oil, Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Seed Oil, Opuntia Ficus-Indica Seed Oil, Crocus Sativus Meristem Cell Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Tocopherol, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Oil, Citrus Aurantium Amara (Bitter Orange) Peel Oil, Limonene
Basically, this is a bottle full of antioxidants, anthocyanins and vitamins that not only nourishes and brightens the skin, it also helps protects from environmental stressors. I tested this serum multiple ways; as a serum, mixed with my moisturizers, on its own with no other products on my skin except an eye cream and my skin responded well to all.
My favourite way which I have been doing for the past 3 weeks is using it in the evenings after cleansing, toning and under an overnight mask. I warm up 4-5 drops in between my palm, pat it onto my skin and use my favourite Michael Todd Sonic Eraser Pro (reviewed here) for a good facial massage. I wake up with bright, hydrated and nourished skin every morning. I haven't had a breakout, not even during that time of the month which is extremely unusual.
Graydon Superfood Serum* has been a permanent staple in my routine since day one of me receiving it. I have not touched any other oils, not even my previous ride or die by Herbivore as I truly love this more.
Final verdict? While it will take me a long time to go through this bottle, it will definitely be a repurchase. I plan to pick up the Fullmoon Serum next as it contains retinol and blue tansy, two of my favourite ingredients.
Let me know if you guys would like a review on the Fullmoon Serum and your thoughts on Graydon Skincare.
*Gifted but my thoughts and opinions are 100% unbiased, honest and my own. There is no place for any sort of BS here.
