THE ONE I DIDN'T KNOW I NEEDED: DERMALOGICA ULTRACALMING CLEANSER

I was first introduced to Dermalogica a few years ago through Lily who blogs at ChloeAsh.com. She raved about PreCleanse and it piqued my curiosity. Needless to say, PreCleanse is now my holy grail oil cleanser and I have gone through so many bottles over the years.

Today I will be sharing my thoughts on Dermalogica UltraCalming Cleanser, a cleanser made for sensitive, reactive skin and one that I never thought I need. I'm one of the lucky ones who are blessed with very good skin that is not sensitive and very rarely react to products. So the thought of spending extra money on a 'gentle' cleanser has never ever come across my mind.

Well, it's safe to say, I was wrong because this turned out to be a bloody brilliant cleanser and one that I will be forever repurchasing. So what makes it so special and more than your average gentle cleanser?

Ingredient:

Water, Cetearyl Alcohol, Bisabolol, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Glycerin, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Butylene Glycol, Pentylene Glycol, Hydroxyphenyl Propamidobenzoic Acid, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Fumaria Officinalis Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Fumaric Acid, Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Fruit Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Extract, Echinacea Purpurea Extract, Acrylates/ C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Cocamidopropyl PG-Dimonium Chloride Phosphate, Disodium Lauryl Sulfosuccinate, Cetrimonium Chloride, Salix Alba Bark Extract, Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract, Glyceryl Caprylate, Disodium EDTA, Panthenol, Aminomethyl Propanol, 

A quick glance at the list shows it's filled with nourishing, soothing and hydrating ingredients. I know many are wary of Lavender oil as it might cause a reaction but please keep in mind that Dermalogica UltraCalming Cleanser uses Lavender flower extract and not the essential oil.

This non-foaming cleanser has a gel texture and you can apply it to both dry or damp skin. There is a very faint lavender scent to it but it's soft that it's almost undetectable unless you are sniffing for it. It spreads easily and feels silky on the skin and I love giving myself a face massage in the morning with it. I adore it as morning cleanser but it's also lovely as my evening second cleanse on days when I wear minimal makeup.

So what makes this cleanser special to me? This is the first non-foaming, silky gel cleanser that leaves my skin feeling instantly baby soft, smooth and hydrated. My skin never feels tight, on the contrary, I find myself layering less skincare whenever I use it.

I never thought a cleanser could give a boost of hydration but Dermalogica UltraCalming Cleanser did just that and more. I find myself reaching for it almost every day and when I don't, my skin actually misses it.

If you have sensitive skin and suffers from redness, I highly recommend checking this out. Hell, I recommend this cleanser to everyone, you really can't go wrong with it. It's one of the most beautifully formulated gentle cleansers that I have ever tried and it has a permanent place in my routine.
