With Summer supposedly here, and I emphasized on supposedly because the weather has been anything but that. It has been gloomy, windy and a dash of rain here and there throughout the day, Summer is taking its time to arrive this year.
That aside, we are here today not to hear me complaining about the weather...we're to talk about sunscreens. Recently I've been testing two new mineral sunscreens courtesy of WishTrend, so let's see how I get on with them. Yay or nay?
I'm a long time fan of Klairs and quite frankly I've had an amazing experience with most of their products. This sunscreen was a highly awaited launch following the massive success of the original Soft Airy UV Essence SPF50 PA++++ (reviewed here) which by the way, is still one of my all-time favourite sunscreens.
Klairs claims the new Mid Day Blue UV Shield to be hydrating, lightweight, non-irritant and gentle for all skin type even sensitive ones. It uses zinc oxide and titanium dioxide to protect against UVA and UVB and contains Guaiazulene an antioxidant known for its anti-inflammatory, calming and soothing properties.
Ingredients:
Water, Cyclohexasiloxane, Zinc Oxide, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Polyglyceryl-3 Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone, Dibutyl Adipate, Propanediol, Caprylyl Methicone, 1,2-Hexanediol, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Betaine, Magnesium Sulfate, Hydrogen Dimethicone, Inositol, Aluminum Hydroxide, C30-45 Alkyl Cetearyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Polyglyceryl-2 Dipolyhydroxystearate, Styrene/Acrylates Copolymer, Stearic Acid, Pentylene Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Octyldodecanol, Guaiazulene, Echium Plantagineum Seed Oil, Cardiospermum Halicacabum Flower/Leaf/Vine Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil Unsaponifiables, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Tocopherol, Fragrance
This sunscreen is recommended for combination and oily skin and as most of you know, I have dry-normal and mature skin. This blue tone lotion has a lightweight and creamy texture which spreads easily on the skin and dries down within seconds. I did get a very slight white cast upon application but it disappears as soon as the sunscreen dries down.
I really enjoy wearing this sunscreen and thankfully it didn't dry out my skin despite wearing it every day for almost a month. It doesn't pill, layers beautifully on top all my skincare and under makeup. That said, this is not a sunscreen I recommend if you are spending hours outdoors unless you diligently reapply every 2 hours. I am back to work and have been spending the bulk of my day indoors so I find it adequate for my needs.

Rovectin is a new brand to me and I believe it's a new addition to WishTrend too. The founder created the brand after seeing his sister suffering some of the side effects of cancer treatment; skin barrier deterioration and dryness. The brand is trusted by patients, hospitals and dermatologists and the products aim to restore, repair and soothe the skin.
This is also a mineral sunscreen and formulated with Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide to defend against free-radical damage. The brand claims the sunscreen to be hydrating and helps brighten the skin while improving the appearance of ageing and is suitable for all skin types.

I was slightly surprised by the texture, it's slightly thicker than my usual Asian sunscreens and very creamy. The thickness thankfully doesn't translate to heaviness, it dries down quickly on the skin and I love how moisturized my skin feels with it. It layers well with all my skincare and is beautiful under makeup.
Another bonus about Aqua Soothing UV Protector is it has some really lovely ingredients. My favourite Niacinamide is quite high on the list and then a bunch of soothing and nourishing ingredients.

All the wonderful things aside, this sunscreen gives me quite the white cast. It does dissipate within a minute or two but if I am in a rush, this will not be my choice of the day.
While I enjoy both sunscreens, I don't see myself repurchasing them in the future. For my skin and needs, I will stick to my favourite Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence. It's lightweight, hydrating and leaves my skin looking and feeling fresh; it's perfection.
