I'm in agreement with you on that hun! First impression is very tricky especially with mascaras. I tried so hard to like the one I bought and I kept trying for months till I finally gave up and threw it away. Hence I was sooo critical about this mascara in the past because it was the first high end mascara I bought and it was a complete flop.

DEFINITELY NOT saying this is what you meant, but this is why i can't stand first impressions of a product that is then called a review. sometimes a mascara needs to "dry out" a bit and then it works amazingly. i really do like this mascara when i need something that will last, but it only builds volume to a point. it's good though. again, not a criticism of you or anything i promise!! *hugs*

As you say, the first sample must have been from a faulty batch.

Perhaps you should try it a third time, to make sure that this product is consistently good...?
